I live in the U.K., and I've been collecting comics for almost 30 years, since I was about 10 years old, and I fell in love with Marvel Comics. Over the years, I've accumulated a reasonable collection, and fortunately I have a very reasonable wife who "puts up" with my time-consuming hobby. I only collect Marvel Comics, even though I know there is other good stuff out there - my budget just won't stretch past Marvel, so I have to discipline myself. There are a few exceptions to my rule, one of them being Malibu. When Marvel bought out Malibu some years back, I decided to add them to my collection also, and hunt down the back issues, which I've virtually done now. I've been on the net now for about three years, and it has opened up a whole new world for me, as I guess it has done for most other people. It has been much easier for me to fill the gaps in my collection over the net, by use of either the rec.arts.comics.marketplace newsgroup, or the eBay auction website, than it ever would by traipsing around the country looking through different comic stores. I guess I'm from one of the "Old School", preferring the Marvel classics from the 60's and 70's, rather than a lot of stuff that Marvel has produced over the last 10 years. I can't stand McFarlane or Liefield, and I hate the "manga" look that is creeping into a lot of the titles. I hated the Spider-Clone story line, and I thought the Heroes Reborn issues were probably the worst thing that Marvel had ever done. I would much prefer to see the FF, Cap, Thor, Iron Man and Avengers continue from their old numbering system, rather than start again from #1. Now I see it is happening to DD as well. When I first thought about setting up a Web Site, I wanted to do something different that could be useful to other people, as well as to myself. There are a lot of good Web Sites out here, many devoted to Marvel and Marvel characters, as well as the plethora of Store sites buying and selling comics. The main reason for this site is to maintain a record of the unusual sections of my collection such as the giveaways and variant covers. I'll probably add additional sections in the future as and when I get the time. I hope you find something useful here, and I'll always welcome any suggestions or tips. Cheers
